Things to be Done today for Meet the Teacher
- Give parents your contact information and expectations for learning and behavior.
- Build strong relationships with parents.
- Send entire registration packet including code of conduct and student handbook home to be signed and returned on Monday.
- Tell parents that if they return the packet on Monday, their name will go into a drawing for gas cards from Brookshire's.
- Take up 1st and 2nd Day transportation sheets from parents and their All About Me sheet. If they don't bring them, you should have copies in your room. All parents must complete the transportation sheet and give it to you before leaving.
- Tell every parent that they must get a New Car Tag in the gym Old car tags are no longer valid!!!
- Using the transportation forms that parents bring you, please complete the After School Transportation Information form that Olivia gave you. Keep all originals. Send a copy of this sheet and a copy of every student's 1st and 2nd Day Transportation form to Olivia.
- The teacher will keep the All About Me forms. This is for your use.
- For students that have no transportation forms, please have a list of students ready so we can begin calling parents on Monday.
- GLF's need to send duty assignments for end of day transportation to Olivia. We need to know personnel that are assigned to 0-500 rooms, 500-999 rooms, 1st bus bell, 2nd bus bell, etc. This will help us locate staff and students more quickly.
Things to be done on Monday
- Make a list of students with no transportation plans. Someone will be by your room to get the list and spend the day finding out where they go. This list will be returned to you to add to your transportation forms.
- Students coming from the bus will have a sticker on their back. This sticker tells us the bus that they rode to school. Get this sticker and write down the number on your transportation sheet. For students that have no transportation plans, this sticker will provide us a starting point to identify where they may go at the end of the day.
- Review, model and practice the CHAMPs for the entire building. All students must know what the CHAMPs are and must practice this daily starting Monday. Please review the videos on the Google Doc. You can also show them to the students. This includes the following areas.
- Hallway
- Cafeteria
- Recess
- Restroom
- Take your class to the car pick-up and bus dropoff area and explain the pole system and letters to the students. Show the following:
- Where poles A-F for car pick up are located
- The red line on the sidewalk which is where students must stand while waiting on their car.
- The nurse's office is where the P stickers go.
- How 1st bus bell and 2nd bus bell load.
- Get all students to their car pick up and bus bell at 3:00. All teachers in those assigned areas need to review the CHAMPs for what to do and the system to communicate to the kids where to go and the appropriate behavior that they must show while waiting for their ride and making that transition to their ride.
